I appreciate the effort you went to in reconstructing Velimirović’s FIDE record, but the real guts of the information that FIDE deleted were his aggregated tournament results and individual results against his opponents in those tournaments. The results of those tournaments are obviously still available, but the problem is knowing which tournaments he starred in. The .txt files on your site don’t lead anywhere unfortunately. Is there a resolution to this?In the future, I guess I will keep my eye out for famous players who are recently deceased to copy their FIDE records before those worthies expunge the records.Hopefully, FIDE will come to its senses and simply reflag the player cards as “deceased”.

zanzibar: I did a little more, using SCID and MillBase to research Velimirovic’s games.I have 140 of his games post-2000 (i.e. 2001-> ~May 2011).This corresponds to the 187 from the FIDE stats I posted. I didn’t hunt down exactly what games were missing from when. So, about 75% coverage. Not complete, but a good start, and indicative of his activity. And perhaps the tournament list is more complete than the game list.

I did spend a little time to categorize the SCID info by tournament. (See below…)

I also posted SCID’s overall player report.

(In return, maybe I can ask that you do what you can to help me change FIDE’s policy. Heck, maybe I can ask everybody here on <CG> – we should send them a petition)

Here is the data I gathered from MillBase and SCID:

The last entry from FIDE with Velimirovic with games is 6 games from July 2011  (FSR-2011-07.txt), which seems to match the 6 games from the Serbian Cup 2011, Valjevo SRB tournament above.

A quick word about the previous post on this topic. The data there was gathered by downloading all the of FIDE rating history files available. Then I unpacked the zipped files and “regularized” the file names (e.g. using numeric dates ordered to facilitate simple sorting). Using a command window, and Cygwin, I just ran “cmd> grep Velimirovic *.txt”. The text files with hits are listed by grep – e.g. FSR-2001-01.txt, using my name (FSR = FIDE Standard Rating and not this FSR) instead of FIDE’s JAN01FRL.TXT.
