Capablanca–Fonaroff – 1918.06.18 (NY Evening Post – 1918.06.22)

Capablanca played an casual game with an amateur one June evening back in 1918 which ended with a mighty fine tactic. The game has become rather famous, and infamous.

I would suggest starting by reading the original NY Evening Post article, which is included in full below (thanks to Old Fulton).

Then read Winter’s page on the game:  http://www.chesshistory.com/winter/extra/capablancafonaroff.html

And, of course, a visit to <CG>’s version of the game is always recommended, both for game and kibitzing:
