   (1)  There is no “official” tournament book for Manchester (1890). Various contemporaneous sources (BCM, CPC, C-M)
and rookhouse were primarily used.  Opening day play was delayed due to pre-play meeting lasting longer than scheduled.
   (2)  The exact notice of the rules was probably published in C-M v11, which is publicly unavailable.
For the time control, see C-M v12 p35.
   (3)  At the request of Schallopp, there was an extra regular round played during the Sept. 2nd afternoon session,
see C-M v12 p35. The full schedule is given at the bottom of this post.
   (4)  Presented by Mr. E. N. Frankenstein (BCM v10 (Sept 1890) p364/394).
   (5)  Prize offered by “Manchester Evening News” (ibid).
   (6)  BCM v10 (Aug 1890) p323/351.
   (7)  Article by <rookhouse>, author of <CG> tournament page (we hope).
   (8)  “A Selection of Games from the International Tournament Played at Manchester 25th August to 8 September 1890”,
         W.W. Morgan, Jun., London 1891 – 56 pages.
